Common theory questions

What is the braking distance if you are driving at 90 km/h?

If you are driving at 90 km/h the braking distance – in ideal conditions – is 50 metres.

Braking distances in ideal conditions:

  • 30 km/h: 4.5 metres
  • 50 km/h: 12.5 metres
  • 70 km/h: 24.5 metres
  • 90 km/h: 40.5 metres
  • 110 km/h: 60.5 metres

If the braking occurs in other than ideal conditions, the braking distance can be many times greater.
