Common theory questions

Is driving a car without using a seat belt normally a traffic violation?

Yes, not wearing a seat belt may lead to a fine. In the case of children under the age of 15, you as a driver are required by law to ensure that they are properly protected in the car. Failing to do so may also lead to a fine.

However, wearing a seat belt is not required in the following cases:

  • When the car is not moving.
  • When reversing.
  • When driving in a parking lot, parking garage, petrol station, workshop area or similar area.
  • When there are medical obstacles supported by a medical certificate.
