Common theory questions

What should you do when entering a tunnel?

Accidents in tunnels are relatively rare, but are associated with special risks and, in difficult circumstances, can have very serious consequences. Because of tunnels' poor ventilation, fire and smoke become even more dangerous in a tunnel than on an open road. This is why it is so important to drive carefully and maintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front in tunnels.

When entering a tunnel, you should:

  • Show extra consideration.
  • Avoid unnecessary lane changes.
  • Listen to information on the radio.
  • End any phone calls.
  • Remove any sunglasses.
