Common theory questions

What should you do if your car breaks down on a level crossing?

The easiest way to move a manual car with engine failure is by using the starter motor. You do this by engaging the first gear, releasing the clutch and turning the ignition. Please note that this does not work on all car models.

If moving the car using this method does not work, you can instead try to roll the car out of the junction by shifting into a neutral gear and pushing the car.

The only way to move an automatic car with engine failure is by shifting into a neutral gear and trying to roll it out of the junction by pushing it from behind.

If you cannot move the car, you must immediately contact the police.
